Artist Sarah Almehairi expresses herself through mixed media, sculpture, painting, book art, and fiber art. Her work explores identity, language, materiality and memory through narrative work as well as abstraction. Almehairi also authors poetry that inspires her artwork. These works challenge conventional modes of artistic production and question the cultural and social constructs of traditional artistic practices. In her work, Adjustments of the Daily, geometric shapes and block colors serve as a constant reminder of strolling through urban areas. She writes, “Changes in the environment that go unnoticed create continuity. We live diagonally.”

Almehairi’s work has been exhibited by the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation’s 2022 exhibit Portrait of a Nation II: Beyond Narratives, Saadiyat Cultural District, Abu Dhabi. She has also shown at the 2019 Youth Takeover group show at Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai; Tashkeel’s 2019 group exhibition “Play”, the Culture Summit Abu Dhabi 2018, and the 35th Annual Emirates Fine Art Society Exhibition in 2018. She graduated from New York University, Abu Dhabi in 2019 with a degree in art and art history. Her final capstone solo exhibition was entitled “Between,” at NYUAD’s Project Space.  Almehairi has worked with Shoofi Art Calendar and interned with Abu Dhabi Art and the NYUAD Art Gallery.
