M’hammed Kilito is a documentary photographer based in Casablanca, Morocco. His work focuses on capturing narratives that help make sense of the relationship between individuals and their environments. His series  Hooked to Paradise is an ongoing, long-term, multidisciplinary art project that highlights the complex and multidimensional issues of oasis degradation in Morocco and its impact on its inhabitants. Desertification, recurrent droughts and fires, changes in agricultural practices, overexploitation of natural resources, rural exodus, are all imminent threats to the existence of oases. This project highlights the rich oasis ecosystem and its glaring realities, working to protect the intangible heritage of the nomadic culture in Morocco and the rich oasis ecosystem.

In 2020 Kilito co-founded the Moroccan visual art collective KOZ. Kilito’s work has been exhibited at  the Tate Modern, London, PHotoESPAÑA Festival, Madrid, amongst others. He has received awards from National Geographic and World Press Photo.
