Romdhane’s work is a vivid portrayal of life, illustrating pain, laughter, and hardship. He mixes multiple genres of photography to tell a more complete story– one where the subjects are not victims to pity, but people who are seeking agency to control their destiny and future. His series Under the Sand tackles the desertification and encroaching sand on villages in southern Tunisia.
Romdhane published his first book West of Life in 2018 with Red Hook Editions. His recent exhibitions include the Biennale of the photographs of the contemporary Arab world, Paris, France (2017), Afrotopia African Biennale of photography, Bamako, Mali (2017, Trace, MUCEM, Marseille, France (2015), and Fotofest Biennial, Houston Center for Photography, Texas (2014), among others. His work has been featured in The New York Times and The Washington Post, and Tribe magazine.
