His self expression is characterized by surrealist and contemporary styles. In a country where artists often find trouble to break through the barrier of tradition, Attamimi has taken inspiration from his experience and the world around him, to reflect his inner thoughts through his work.
The Lalaland series is Attamimi’s most notable series to date. Shot in Sana’a, the works aim to portray a perfect state of mind –a utopian perspective on oneself and the world around them. Attamimi’s penchant for clouds has been uniquely reflected in each photograph in this series. In the artist’s words, “clouds were the ultimate addition to this photography series to personify positivity, imagination and a perpetual dream-like state.” Attamimi attempts to take viewers away from the limiting beliefs imposed by society’s invisible barriers and export them to a disposition of freedom and tranquility.
Attamimi began taking photographs in 2010, and after receiving strong support for his work, his passion for photography grew rapidly. His work has been exhibited in Yemen, the Emirates, Kuwait, the U.K. and featured in magazines and newspapers such as Le Monde.
