Ammar Al Beik is a photographer, filmmaker and installation artist whose work grapples with the instability of his home country and the destructive consequences of political repression. Al Beik has produced and directed 10 films and participated in over 50 international film festivals. His works are housed in private and public collections, including the Centre Pompidou, Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and the Museum of Modern Art. He has won several international film awards. Al Beik is currently completing a PhD in the Philosophy of Art and Cinema between Berlin, Rolle, and Tokyo, continuing his projects focused on Syria, exile and sociopolitics.
