Mariam AlNoaimi

b. 1990, Manama, Bahrain; lives and works in Bahrain.

 

Mariam M. AlNoaimi is a Bahrain-based artist born in Manama, Bahrain, in 1990. She currently resides and works in A’ali, Bahrain. She obtained her master's in Urban Design from the University of Colorado, Denver, in 2017 as a Fulbright scholar. In her research-based practice, she contemplates the relationship between people and their surroundings and how they affect each other. Her installations, video pieces, photography, collages, and participatory works examine questions around cartography, cognitive mapping, the built and natural environment, identity, memory, and storytelling.

 

Her art has been featured in the Bahrain Fine Art Annual Exhibition since 2014, where she received the Al-Dana Prize in 2021 and 2022. Her work has been exhibited widely within Bahrain, and she has also been showcased internationally. Mariam is a recipient of Residency Unlimited (2019), Al-Balad Residency (2021), and Art Kitchen’s residency at Alriwaq (2023).
